Sample Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: Toronto to Montreal
Your adventure begins early with a pick-up at your hostel and after a friendly welcome from your driver, then head down the Trans-Canada Highway toward Kingston. Your first stop is at the Big Apple (where they have made over 3 million apples pies) then on to Sandbanks Provincial Park where you will see immense sand dunes by Lake Ontario. From there you will travel to Kingston, the original capital of Upper Canada. Take a tour of the city and then head back on the road to Montreal!

Day 2: Montreal
Explore Montreal, the city of festivals. Join your guide and see the cafes, bars and restaurants in the largest French speaking city outside of Europe. Or, if you prefer, travel on your own through this amazing city.

Day 3: Montreal to Tadousac
Travel along a spectacular highway that borders the St Lawrence Seaway. En-route you will stop at St. Anne de Beaupre Cathedral where thousands of pilgrims come annually to witness miracles. Arrive at Tadoussac where you have an opportunity to experience some of the best whale watching in North America (extra cost). Highly recommended! That night enjoy a group dinner at the hostel (included).

Day 4: Tadousac to Quebec City
Start with a hearty French breakfast (included), then travel to Quebec City and visit Montmorency Falls — a spectacular waterfall that is actually higher than Niagara Falls! From there you will continue to Quebec City, the largest walled city in North America. You have free time to stroll along the cobblestone streets and enjoy outdoor cafes, street musicians, local art and best of all — fine food!

Day 5: Quebec City
Today you have two choices. You may choose to join your guide and explore the cobblestone streets and cafes with the group. Depending on the group, you may even take a cruise on the St Lawrence River (extra cost) so you can see the famous walls from this view. You are also free to walk around the city on your own, taking in the cafes, artists and local shops while practicing your French!

Day 6: Quebec City to Mont Tremblant
Starting at 11:00 am after another great breakfast (included), you will be driven through the beautiful Laurentian Hills to the region of Mont Tremblant. Arrive around mid-day with plenty of time to do some canoeing, hiking, cycling or shopping. You can ride a gondola up the mountain or try out a real luge ride! There is also a first class spa located nearby if you want to soak in hot tubs and view the natural surroundings. In the evening, enjoy a group dinner at the hostel (included).

Day 7: Mont Tremblant to Ottawa
Begin your tour through more spectacular countryside towards Ottawa, the capital of Canada. Along the way you will stop at Omega Park where you can see bears, buffalo, wapiti, deer, wolves, boars, and of course, MOOSE! So keep your camera handy! Arrive around 3:00 pm and after check-in you will take a walking tour of the city. Afterward head out for a few drinks and dinner (extra cost) to a great pub located in the Byward Market.

Day 8: Ottawa to Fort-Coulonge
The bus leaves Ottawa in the afternoon, allowing time to explore the city on your own or with your guide. The route to Fort-Coulonge is a beautiful drive along the river and you will arrive at Esprit lodge in the early evening. Dinner will be a barbecue feast of salmon and/or steak (included) and a vegetarian option is also available. If you choose to raft the next day (highly recommended) you are in good hands, since the Esprit team was voted one of top rafting companies in the world by National Geographic!

Day 9: Fort-Coulonge
Start your day with the famous Esprit breakfast buffet (included). If you are rafting, today is an early start at 7:30 am. Take a short ride to the departure point and spend the day on the river, rafting or river-boarding. If you decide to stay at the lodge you can swim, canoe, hike or go mountain bike riding. At the end of the day, return to the lodge and settle down to enjoy another great meal (included) and relax on the patio with a cold beverage.

Day 10: Fort-Coulonge to Algonquin Park
After another great Esprit breakfast (included), depart at 10:00 am for a short drive to the Base Camp. After check-in you will start to explore Algonquin Park, home to over 10,000 moose, 2,000 black bears, beavers, wolves and many more animals. In the evening savor a delicious barbecue meal (included) and evening by the campfire (weather permitting).

Day 11: Algonquin Park
You will spend more time exploring Algonquin Park by taking a short (easy) hike, as well as a refreshing swim in a beautiful lake. In the evening sit again by the campfire to take in the natural beauty of the park, sunset, and stars.

Day 12: Algonquin Park to Toronto
Start with an early morning breakfast (included) and then head out for a beautiful canoe ride to Moore's Falls. After lunch you will head to Toronto passing through Algonquin Park so you have more wildlife viewing opportunities. Stop for a short hike at Ragged Falls where you can take a refreshing shower. From there you will continue to the Dorset Fire Tower for a spectacular view of the surrounding wilderness. The last leg of your journey takes you to Toronto. Arrive around 6:00 pm where you will be dropped off at your accommodation. Remember there will be a wrap up party starting at 8:00 pm on the outdoor patio of Global Village Backpackers — so don’t miss out!

Food & Beverages:
Each hostel on the route offers a self-serve kitchen so you can prepare your own food. You also have the choice of eating at restaurants or cafes, so ask your driver or guide for recommendations. This tour includes some meals and activities (see Tour Itinerary).

Preparing For Your Trip:
~ Bring proper clothing for the tour. The weather in Canada is predictable, but changes in temperature can occur throughout the day depending on location (this is especially true in the mountains or during the spring and fall months elsewhere).
~ If possible, bring a credit card with you while traveling. Credit cards can be used as identification and for making deposits on rentals if needed.
~ Don’t forget your camera — you will definitely want to take photos of new friends, beautiful scenery and wild animals!
